A blaze in Stapleton, Staten Island, causes injuries

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — NOVEMBER 1, 2021 — 5 injured, including three firefighters, at fire in Stapleton

On the morning of Monday, Nov. 1, 2021, FDNY responded to a fire on Wright Street near Van Duzer Street in the neighborhood of Stapleton, in the North Eastern corner of the Island, not far from the Iglesia Ministerio Puerta Abierta (Open door Ministry Church). 

A total of five people, two residents and three firefighters were injured in a residential fire in Stapleton earlier this morning.

Around 60 firefighters and 12 units combated an attic fire that was reported at 4:04 a.m. at a multi-unit building at 168 Wright St., according to a spokesman for the FDNY/EMS and the Fire Department’s Twitter feed.

The injured were taken to area hospitals, according to the FDNY spokesman.

At this report's time, the fire's cause remains unknown. Law enforcement wasn't called to the scene of what seems to be an unfortunate incident.
