Fashion that Combines Classic Comic Book Characters with High-End Fashion

Scheduled for September 7th and 8th, 2024 at 30 Wall Street in New York City's Financial District, COSMODA will not only present its unique “Cosplay Couture” but will also introduce a new segment, “Alliance,” featuring Fantasy, Contemporary, and Innovative designs.

Known for pushing the boundaries of traditional fashion shows, COSMODA has carved a niche by merging pop culture with high-end fashion. The event offers an array of costumes inspired by comic books, anime, video games, and fantasy, encouraging audience participation and interactive exhibits, where attendees can dress up and take part in elaborate photo shoots.

Founded by fashion icon Catherine Schuller-Gruenwald and arts events producer Daniel Hort, COSMODA debuted at New York Fashion Week in 2022, disrupting the conventional catwalk with an inclusive environment that celebrates diversity and creativity. Attendees are invited to dress as their favorite comic book characters and join in on the runway fun.

This year's COSMODA events will be held across two days:

On Saturday, September 7th, doors open at 6 pm and the show starts at 7 pm.

This event kicks off with the Cosplay Runway with a special Marvel homage opening number featuring the Fantastic Four, followed by additional highly acclaimed cosplayers strutting their new builds and creations.

Closing the evening will be the debut of the “Alliance” segment of COSMODA, featuring high-end, innovative designs from celebrity designer, Adrian Alicea. Titled “Decades of a Living Legend,” this portion of the show will feature new haute couture and custom made looks by Alicea along with fashions from over the past four decades of his legendary career.

On Sunday, September 8th, COSMODA Alliance continues with two events:

1:00-3:00 pm

The runway show will feature an eclectic mix of stylish couture by Cuban-born NY designer Baro Sanchez and the new “Authentic” collection of outrageous shoes and coordinating designs by John Ashford.

7:00-8:00 pm (doors open at 6 pm)

The final segment of COSMODA Alliance will spotlight Imperial Legacy, a brother-sister design duo from Texas who are also mental health care professionals. They will debut their new collection, “To Our Living Legends, with Love,” which pays tribute to educators and counselors who inspire and support teens and young adults during this pivotal stage of their lives.

“ALLIANCE fills a void in a market dominated by conventional runway shows,” says COSMODA Executive Producer Daniel Hort. “The vibrant and playful nature of COSPLAY RUNWAY brings a unique energy that resonates with our audience, and we’re excited to showcase some of the most creative and innovative designers in the industry.”

Catherine Schuller-Gruenwald, COSMODA's Creative Director, shared her enthusiasm for this year's event, stating, “I am thrilled to continue this extraordinary fashion event that brings together designers and comic book fans in an inclusive, creative atmosphere. It’s also a wonderful way to honor the legacy of my late husband, Mark Gruenwald, a beloved figure at Marvel Comics.”

This year also marks the christening of COSMODA’s new venue at 30 Wall Street, located in New York City’s historic Financial District.

Tickets for COSMODA - The Cosplay Runway are available on EventBrite for Sept 7th and Sept 8th. For the Imperial Legacy show, buy tickets here.
