While getting her Master’s degree in Indian History at The University of Jammu, India, fashion designer Vaishali developed a keen interest in the riches and diversity of Indian’s artisanal heritage. She has traveled extensively within India, interacting with skilled artisans and craftsmen with diverse specialties, observing their detailed work, and marveling at the beautiful outcomes of every new destination.
Inspired by their legacy and craftsmanship she wanted to bring them to the limelight by carefully curating and designing each product to suit the contemporary international market. It was from this desire that Livalya was founded in October 2014.
Having worked for about a decade in the fashion industry as an executive responsible for North America at an exclusive New York-based embroidery house, Vaishali has honed her keen eye for detail. Her collection of intricate design, weave, and fabrics is a testament to that.
Her passion for supporting artisanal heritage is not limited to India. She has brought Indian craftsmanship to NYC by empowering the hand behind handmade. Moreover, the present collection has styles that have been sewn by women rescued from human trafficking. Through Livalya, Vaishali aspires to bring craftsmanship from across the world to center stage as well as empower women.
