Editor’s Note

Enrico Caruso, born on February 25, 1873, in Naples, Italy, was an iconic and influential operatic tenor. Rising from humble beginnings, Caruso's extraordinary vocal talent quickly garnered attention. He made his operatic debut in 1895 at the Teatro Nuovo in Naples, marking the beginning of a prolific career.

Caruso's sublime voice and impeccable technique catapulted him to international fame, earning him acclaim in renowned opera houses like La Scala in Milan and the Metropolitan Opera in New York. His repertoire included various roles from various operatic genres, showcasing his versatility and mastery. Caruso's recordings, especially for the Victor Talking Machine Company, played a pivotal role in popularizing opera and bringing it to a broader audience.

Tragically, Caruso's career was cut short when he succumbed to respiratory complications on August 2, 1921, at the age of 48. Despite his premature death, Enrico Caruso left an indelible mark on the opera world, remembered as one of the greatest tenors in history.
