Tom Ford Is Leaving Fashion. What next?
In Spring of 2023 one of the most famous designers, Tom Ford, 61, announced that he is leaving the fashion industry after selling his design house for about 2.5 billion dollars.
Instead of him, the creative director position will be filled by his long-time colleague and associate Peter Hawkings.
Tom Ford spent over 20 years working in fashion and is now starting a new chapter of his career transitioning to filmmaking. In a statement, he announced that he will be working closely with Fade to Black, his production company.
The designer has already released two movies so far, one of the most famous being Nocturnal Animals starring Amy Adams and Jake Gyllenhaal.
What surprised me the most was that Tom Ford, even though he was not working in movie production full time and was a new “player in the field”, was able to find his own authentic style. His movies have a hint of darkness and mystery, they keep you tense from the beginning until the end, and make you come back to them and think them over.
Tom Ford undoubtedly has talent, and he is going to be a great acquisition for the movie world. I can’t wait for the new movies he directs, and they will definitely be on my “to-watch” list.
As for Tom Ford fashion house, I will keep an eye on the future collections and see what innovations Peter Hawkings will bring. Tom Ford believes Mr. Hawkings is the best creative director for the fashion house, and I tend to believe him. But time will show if it is true.
The only thing I can be sure of is that we will soon be seeing new cinematography masterpieces by Tom Ford.
