ITALY on MADISON - May 22-28. A celebration of “La Dolce Vita” in New York City!

Every time I hear about Italy, I think of great food, wines, and, of course, fashion. This week, May 22-28, I had a chance to experience all of that! New York City is now right in the middle of ‘Italy On Madison,’ a project organized by the Italian Trade Agency to promote Italian brands abroad and attract more foreign investments in Italy.

Every day features different events. If you are a fashionista, come to the fashion show or visit a boutique to see new collections inspired by Italian nature. If you love Italian cuisine and wines, visit the various wine tastings and delicious dinners in Italian restaurants. Everyone will be able to learn a little more about Italy.

As for myself, I had a chance to attend a lecture at the Italian Trade Commission. Italian Design Week: Update From Milano covered the newest trends in interior design. This year is tightly focused on natural patterns, bright colors, and textures. With people trying to be more eco-friendly and closer to nature, such a trend is not surprising. And, of course, an important part of it is sustainability. Some of the designs presented were made out of recycled materials.

Another curious aspect covered in the lecture was the evolution of the way people think about the outdoor spaces in their houses. In an attempt to be closer to nature, we almost bring indoor interiors outdoor. With comfortable chairs and minimalistic designs - we are trying to make our outdoor spaces look as cozy and comfortable as our homes. And vice versa. For indoor spaces, people are looking for bright natural colors, connecting themselves to nature even when they are at home.

After the lecture, there was a great lunch, obviously delicious, which I was delighted to attend.

Italy On Madison is an amazing week-long event promoting the best aspects of Italian culture. It gives a great opportunity to learn about the country by connecting to it in your own way: through food or fashion. And, of course, it’s a great way to meet people and share this experience together!
